deer, croc

Well, not really an encounter and I wasn't yet running, but...
Yesterday evening when I went out to the field to run, the dogs zoomed past me as they always do, chasing each other to a particular fence corner where our property ends and the treeline starts. I didn't think anything of it, they race each other to the same place every day. A few minutes later, while warming up at a walk, something caught my attention from that same area, I don't think the dog barked, I'm not sure what made me look, and it happened so fast it's hard to say, but by the time I finally realized what I was looking at, the deer was in the middle of the field and bounding so high that my jaw dropped. Black Dog was chasing her (I don't know if it was male or female but I prefer the latter), but she was literally leaps ahead. And I don't remember there being a sound, even when I saw her touch down and take off again, the only noise I remember is the dog. She cleared our field in just a few leaps, and then I realized she'd have to jump the barbed wire fence and I was worried for an instant, particularly that she might not see it, but she cleared it in one spectacularly impressive leap! Black Dog gave up before she even got to the fence, even though she runs through it with such ease it might as well not be there. I think she either knew she was outrun, or didn't want any part of this giant jumping thing! But the deer headed off across the neigboring field and into the treeline across the way, her tail so huge and white I could see her until she disappeared properly into the trees.
I found the spot where she last touched down before jumping the fence. She cleared a four-foot fence from fifteen feet away! It was pretty awesome.
Totally unrelated, Rogue? The killer croc movie? The Sam Worthington movie? Not as bad as expected. Sam was lovely. Could have had more screentime, though. Could have omitted one or three cheezy lines of dialogue. Otherwise, a mostly satisfying watch! And I enjoy Radha Mitchell.
